All experiences required by a college program, including student teaching, field placements, classroom observations and internships, must be approved by the Human Resources Department. Colleges and universities must have current affiliation agreements in place prior to any students being placed with district employees.
In order to maintain a clear process and limit communication errors, please do not directly contact building principals or classroom teachers. Arrangements made through individuals and not the HR Department may not be able to be honored.
Instead, all requests should be submitted to the Human Resources Generalist, Sandy Caldwell, at scaldwell@kcsd.org.
The following required documents must be received prior to approval for student teaching, field placements, classroom observations or internships. The college or university should supply these items directly to the HR Department on behalf of the student.
- Clearances
- Negative Tuberculosis (TB) test
- Letter from your college or university, signed by the professor, explaining the hours needed and requirements for the course
Please provide at least two weeks notice for all requests to be reviewed. Submission of the required materials is no guarantee of placement. Your college/university will notify you of your actual placement once approved.
