New K-5 Summer Assemblies

Calling all KCSD K-5 students and families! This summer, KCSD and the Believe and Achieve Foundation are excited to offer four new and exciting programs. Each event will be held at the Kennett Library and will be educational, enriching, and most importantly, fun!

Summer Assemblies: 

Science Guys – Out of this World (July 11, 3-4 p.m. at the Kennett Library)

This science show is all about the physics of Earth and Outer Space! Come learn about gravity, states of matter, the sun & moon, and how light travels to Earth. You’ll even get to see what happens when astronauts explore outside of the space station!

Magic of Nutrition (July 22, 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Kennett Library)

Magic of 5-A-Day is an interactive assembly, designed to promote nutrition and exercise. The presenter brings nutrition and magic together to help students learn all about healthy eating habits.

I am Corey – Author & Illustrator (July 24, 12-1 p.m. at the Kennett Library)

Come meet Corey, an author and illustrator. He will share his book, “How to Shoot a Basketball”- a comic book that breaks down how to get your ball through the hoop with pictures and easy to follow steps. Students will learn about his writing style, his secrets inside the pages, and how to help unlock your own creativity.

Musicopia: Afro-Cuban Music/Dance (July 29, 1-2 p.m. at the Kennett Library)

Learn about the power and beauty of Afro-Cuban music and dance. Dressed in all white, world-renowned percussionists will play traditional Bata drums, congas & cajons, bells & shakers, all while singing ancient Yoruba songs. Before you know it everyone in the audience will be on their feet rocking to a Bata Rumba dance party!

Please note: registration is required for each summer assembly and children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Each summer assembly will be capped at 130 guests.
