On Thursday, August 29, 2024, Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Rizzo Saunders released her entry plan titled “Listen, Learn, Lead” on our website and via email to all families.
Dr. Rizzo Saunders focus groups are the first step in the first thirty-days of listening to all stakeholders at KCSD.
"I am prioritizing meeting with teachers, students, administrators, and families one-on-one and in small focus groups," she wrote to families in her email announcing the first focus groups for parents and guardians.
"I hope to learn what makes the KCSD community unique by identifying both its strengths and its challenges. I aim to foster a culture of honesty and integrity while developing a leadership strategy with the ultimate goal of improving student outcomes while addressing their academic, social, and emotional needs."
The focus groups for KCSD teachers and staff began on Wednesday, September 4 followed by a group for parents and guardians the following evening. Groups are very small composed of between five and eight attendees who register via an invitation shared via email. Groups for community members who live in the District, pay taxes, but who do not have students in our schools are being held beginning September 11 while student focus groups will be scheduled as well.
