Incoming Superintendent Welcomes New Teachers

Dr. Rizzo Saunders joins administration at new teacher induction

Although Dr. Kimberly Rizzo Saunders does not officially begin her tenure until Friday, August 23, the incoming Superintendent joined Interim Superintendent (and Assistant) Dr. Michael Barber and the administrative staff on the first day of new teacher induction at Kennett Middle School on Monday, August 12.

Forty new teachers enjoyed a warm welcome from district administrators and principals with breakfast and presentations by Chris Marsala, Director of Human Resources, Dr. Rizzo Saunders, and Dr. Barber.  Teachers spent time with the technology team as well before heading over to their schools for further support.

Dr. Rizzo Saunders shared her excitement with the new team for not only having the opportunity to lead Kennett, but to also enjoy her new residence in Pennsylvania.  Dr. Rizzo Saunders and her family resided in New Hampshire where she served as Superintendent of the Contoocook Valley School District in Peterborough since July 2016.  She will be unveiling her 90-day entry plan to the community soon.

New teachers spent four days in the District as part of the annual induction, meeting with heads of departments including Teaching and Learning and Pupil Services/Special Education.  They enjoyed a tour of the District and even spent time with their principals.  Next week they will join their fellow Kennett teachers for a four-day in-service to continue preparation for the new school year.

Students arrive for their first day of school on Monday, August 26.
