Personnel   

Retirement

Debra Ostanek, 1st grade, Bancroft Elementary, retiring with a last day of employment of June 26, 2015.  [24 years]

Requests for leave

Meghan Bergman, art, Greenwood Elementary and Mary D. Lang K Center, an extension of her maternity/child rearing leave through February 20, 2015 in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable Board Policy.

Kimberly Conroy, health and physical education, Greenwood Elementary, an extension of her maternity/child rearing leave through the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable Board Policy.

Kristin Spahr, 5th grade, Bancroft Elementary, an extension of her maternity/child rearing leave through February 16, 2015, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable Board Policy.

Hannah Lee, special education, New Garden Elementary, beginning January 5, 2015 (LTS through the end of the 2014-2015 school year).  Conestoga High School; Millersville University (B.S. in early childhood and special education). 
Keely Panichelli, 5th grade, Bancroft Elementary (extension of LTS position through February 13, 2015).  Archbishop Prendergast High School; West Chester University (B.S. in special and elementary education). 

Rebecca Snyder, art, Greenwood Elementary and Mary D. Lang K Center (extension of LTS position through February 20, 2015).  Susquehanna Township High School; University of Delaware (BFA); University of Maryland (M.Ed. in art education).

Stephanie Varacchi, health and physical education, Greenwood Elementary, beginning February 9, 2015 (extension of LTS position through the end of the 2014-2015 school year).  Unionville High School; West Chester University (B.S. in health and physical education).

Alfred Adams, night lead custodian, Kennett High, beginning December 8, 2014.

H. Wayne Anderson, part-time night custodian, Greenwood Elementary, beginning December 8, 2014.

SUPERINTENDENT’S EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT   

The Board approved the employment contract between Barry W. Tomasetti, Superintendent, and the Kennett Consolidated School District Board of School Directors, effective January 27, 2015 through January 26, 2020.

REQUEST FOR STUDENT TRIP   

The Board granted permission for the high school to sponsor a student trip to England, Ireland, and Wales over the 2016 spring break in accordance with Board Policy 121, Field Trips.  The proposed dates for the trip are Thursday, March 17 through Friday, March 25, 2016, with students missing two days of school. 

SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT   

The District, through legal counsel, negotiated and the Board approved a Settlement Agreement with the parents of a student in order to avoid continued and/or potential disputes or litigation.  The Agreement will settle any disputed issues of fact and law but does not constitute an admission of fault or liability by either party. The parties have agreed to keep the terms of the Agreement in strictest confidence.
