October 10, 2016

The Board approved the following personnel items, as well as supplemental contracts for the 2016-2017 school year –
Dionne Delaney, administrative assistant, Kennett Middle, resigning effective October 14, 2016.
Kathleen Rentschler, home/school visitor and social worker, District-wide, resigning effective September 30, 2016.
Requests for leave of absence
Meghan Bergman, art, Greenwood Elementary and Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center, a maternity/child rearing leave beginning on or about December 14, 2016, and continuing through the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy.
Jennifer Braunstein, 5th grade, Greenwood Elementary, a maternity/child rearing leave beginning on or about November 11, 2016, and continuing through on or about March 24, 2017, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy.
Quinn Trowbridge, 6th grade mathematics, Kennett Middle, a maternity/child rearing leave beginning on or about January 23, 2017, and continuing through on or about April 28, 2017, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy.
Recommendations for employment
Rachel Pearson, 4th grade, New Garden Elementary, beginning November 9, 2016 (LTS through February 24, 2017). Daniel Boone High School; West Chester University (B.S. – certified grades PK – 4).
Seamus Solon, special education, Bancroft Elementary, beginning September 12, 2016. West Chester Henderson High School; West Chester University (B.S. – certified special education and grades PK – 4).

attainment of professional employee status (information)
The following temporary professional employees are certified as satisfactory by the District Superintendent for professional employee status according to the provisions of the Public School Code:
The Board granted permission for Kennett Middle School counselors to survey 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, the results of which will assist counselors in planning the best guidance program for the students. The needs assessment aligns with Chapter 339, and parental permission will be required prior to administering the survey.
STUDENT CLUB PROPOSAL
The Board granted permission for the Kennett High School WIN Program to take approximately 30 students for a college visit to Pennsylvania State University. Students will leave after school on Tuesday, October 11 and return the evening of Wednesday, October 12, 2016 but will not miss any school days since October 12 is a holiday. The request was granted in accordance with Board Policy 121, Field Trips.
In accordance with Board Policy 122, Extracurricular Activities, the Board approved a student organization to be named KHS UNICEF Club. The main purpose of the Club is to help support UNICEF’s humanitarian efforts through various fundraising events. The Student Organization Constitution has been successfully completed and signed off by the student officers, club advisor, and high school administration.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR AGREEMENT
The Board approved the contract between the Kennett Consolidated School District and Christina Ridge for computer database services during the term of the agreement, October 10, 2016 through October 6, 2017, at the rate of $27.73 an hour.
The Board approved a Settlement Agreement with the parents of a student in order to avoid continued and/or potential disputes or litigation. The Agreement will settle any disputed issues of fact and law but does not constitute an admission of fault or liability by either party. The Parties have agreed to keep the terms of the Agreement in strictest confidence.
