Summary of School Board Meeting
July 13, 2015

The Board approved the following personnel items as well as supplemental contracts for the 2015-2016 school year
Cale Hilbolt, special education liaison, District-wide, resignation effective June 18, 2015.
Taylor Musser, 3rd grade, Bancroft Elementary, resignation effective June 16, 2015.
Carmen Ortiz, administrative assistant, Bancroft Elementary, retiring with an amended last day of employment of June 25, 2015. [17 years]
Nancy Tischer, Director of Human Resources, retiring with a last day of employment of August 31, 2015. [16.25 years]
Requests for leave of absence
Julie Brenna, 6th grade science, Kennett Middle, a maternity/child rearing leave beginning August 24, 2015, and continuing through December 13, 2015, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy.
MaryAnn Heckenberger, ESL, Mary D. Lang K Center, a maternity/child rearing leave beginning August 24, 2015, and continuing through January 3, 2016, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy.
Jillian Quinn, 3rd grade, Greenwood Elementary, a maternity/child rearing leave beginning on or about September 18, 2015, and continuing through the remainder of the 2015-2016 school year in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy.
Jessica Yarnall, 2nd grade, Greenwood Elementary, an extension of her maternity/child rearing leave through February 26, 2016, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy.
Recommendations for employment
INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF – beginning August 24, 2015
Timothy Haddigan, special education, New Garden Elementary. Liberty High School; West Chester University (B.S. in special education and grades 4-8 mathematics and social studies).
Hannah Lee, special education, New Garden Elementary. Conestoga High School; Millersville University (B.S. in early childhood and special education).
Heather Morihara, guidance counselor, Kennett High. Pittsford Mendon High School; Ithaca College (B.S. in psychology); University of Rochester (M.S. in secondary school counseling).
The Board appointed Lorenzo DeAngelis as principal of Kennett Middle School effective July 1, 2015.
KMS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
The Board appointed Brenna Levi as assistant principal of Kennett Middle School effective July 20, 2015.
MARY D LANG K CENTER PRINCIPAL
The Board appointed April Reynolds as principal of the Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center effective August 3, 2015.
2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR FEES
In accordance with Board Policy 904, Public Attendance at School Events, the Superintendent prepared and the Board approved the schedule of fees for all school events. Policy 904 provides that residents of the District who are 65 years of age or older will be admitted without charge to all school athletic and musical events and at a 25% discount to drama events.
FREE AND REDUCED PRICE LUNCHES AND FREE MILK
The Board approved District participation in the Pennsylvania income guidelines for determining the eligibility of children for free and reduced price lunches and for free milk.
2015-2016 CAFETERIA PRICES
The Board approved a breakfast price of $1.50 for all students and a lunch price of $2.50 for elementary students and $2.75 for middle and high school students for the 2015-2016 school year.
AUTHORIZATION TO PAY BILLS DUE AND HIRE STAFF BUDGETED
There is no Regular Meeting scheduled for the month of August 2015. Therefore, the Board granted authorization for the administration to pay bills that are due and to hire staff that is budgeted. The bills will be reviewed by the Treasurer and presented to the full Board at the September meeting, as will a listing of staff members hired.
