The Board approved the following personnel items as well as supplemental contracts for the 2016-2017 school year –


Sarah Guido, French, Kennett High and Kennett Middle, resigning effective January 13, 2017.

Requests for leave

Kristy Lanzetti, 1st grade, Greenwood Elementary, a maternity/child rearing leave beginning January 12, 2017, and continuing through May 31, 2017, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy.

Laura Tingley, special education, Kennett High, a maternity/child rearing leave beginning on or about January 30, 2017, and continuing through on or about March 11, 2017, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy.

Recommendations for employment


Jennifer Bollacker, 1st grade, Greenwood Elementary, beginning January 10, 2017 (LTS through the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year). Interboro High School; West Chester University (B.S. – certified early childhood N-3); Wilmington University (M.Ed. – literacy).

Mia Ciasullo, French, Kennett High and Kennett Middle, beginning January 17, 2017. Abington Sr. High School; Pennsylvania State University (B.S. – certified French PK-12).

Matthew Chestnut, 5th grade, Greenwood Elementary, beginning November 7, 2016 (LTS through March 24, 2017). Downingtown West High School; Shippensburg University (B.S. – certified elementary K-6).

Lauren Frattura, 6th grade mathematics, Kennett Middle, beginning on or about January 23, 2017 (LTS through April 28, 2017). Unionville High School; Bloomsburg University (B.S. – certified middle grades (4-8) education).

Daniel Pennacchia, home and school visitor, District-wide, beginning October 17, 2016. St. Joseph’s Preparatory School; Fordham University (B.S. – psychology); Bryn Mawr College (M.S.S. – certified home and school visitor).


Ronald Arrants, custodian, Kennett High [part-time (4 hours/day) November 1, 2016 until December 29, 2016; full-time (7.25 hours/day) beginning January 3, 2017].

attainment of professional employee status (information)

The following temporary professional employee is certified as satisfactory by the District Superintendent for professional employee status according to the provisions of the Public School Code: Pin, Kelly


The administration received two requests for student organizations. The first is to be named The Medical Club. The main goal of the Club is to educate students about the pathway to occupations in the field of healthcare or medicine. The second student organization is to be called Mini-THON, the purpose of which is to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer. The Student Organization Constitutions have been successfully completed and signed off by the student officers, club advisors, and high school administration.

The Board approved The Medical Club and Mini-THON as extracurricular activities in accordance with Board Policy 122, Extracurricular Activities.


In accordance with Board Policy 121, Field Trips, the Board granted permission for the high school Ski Club to travel to Stratton Mountain Ski Resort. Students will leave after school on Friday, February 10, and return on Sunday, February 12, 2017, missing no school days.


The Independent Auditor’s Report was presented and reviewed at the Finance Committee meeting on November 7, 2016. The District received an Unqualified Opinion commonly referred to as a Clean Opinion. The Unqualified Opinion is issued when the auditors do not have any significant reservation in respect of matters contained in the Financial Statements. Additionally, the Audit Report did not identify any findings or deficiencies in the District’s financial operations or internal controls.

The Board accepted the Kennett Consolidated School District audit report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2016, as prepared by Barbacane Thornton and Company, certified public accountants.
