The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 provided for all public schools to be staffed by highly qualified teachers. Although some of the new requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 have changed, the Kennett Consolidated School District works diligently to ensure that all staff members meet the definition of a highly qualified teacher. This teacher holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, has obtained full state certification or licensure, and has demonstrated subject area competence in each of the academic subjects in which he or she teaches.
As a parent of a student in the Kennett Consolidated School District, you have a right to know the professional qualifications of the teachers and paraprofessionals who instruct your child. If you would like to receive any of this information, please contact Dr. Deena Cellini, Director of Human Resources, at 300 East South Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348, by telephone at 610-444-6600 ext. 20031, or by email at dcellini@kcsd.org.
